Tickled Teal Buttercream Cake

Ingredients

  • Favorite Cake Mix or Recipe

  • White Nonpareils, 3 oz. - Cake Decorating Supplies

  • Assorted Color Nonpareils Sprinkles, 6-Colors

  • Kelly Green Icing Color, 1 oz.

  • Teal Icing Color, 1 oz.

  • Pink Sugar Pearls, 5 oz.

  • Pearlized Diamond Shaped Sprinkles, 3 oz.

  • Pearlized Gold Sprinkle Mix

  • Jimmies 6-Mix Sprinkle Assortment

  • 5 cups Buttercream Frosting

  • Tools

  • Cake Decorating Turntable

  • Performance Pans Aluminum Round Cake Pan, 10-Inch

  • Decorator Preferred 13 inch Angled Spatula

  • Round Gold Glitter Cake Boards

  • 12-Inch Round Cake Circles, 8-Count

  1. Bake cake. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool two cake layers. Level, fill and stack for 4 in. high cake.

  2. Tint icing. Combine Teal and Kelly Green icing colors to get teal color shown. Tint 5 cups icing teal using color combinations provided.

    Place cake on cake circle, then on turntable. Using spatula, ice cake with teal icing, using tip of spatula to add spatula marks to side of cake. For consistent lines, place tip of spatula at base of cake, then turn cake on table as spatula moves up towards top of cake.

    Use same technique to pipe swirl on top of cake, starting at edge of cake and working towards center. Place cake on gold cake board.

  3. Decorate cake. In small bowl, combine sprinkles. Carefully top edge of cake with sprinkles mix.
