Pretty in Pink Buttercream Cake

Birthdays, baby showers, Fridays—every day is better with cake! This Pretty in Pink Buttercream Cake is great for little girl's birthday parties or fun bachelorette or bridal showers. You can personalize this cake with a cake topper or some birthday candles or create your own sprinkles mix with whatever nonpareils or jimmies you have lying around. A quick and easy treat that bakers of all skill levels can make, this Pretty in Pink Cake is all dressed up and ready for fun!

  1. Bake cake. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool two cake layers. Level, fill and stack for 4 in. high cake.
  2. Tint icing. Combine Rose and Red-Red icing colors to get pink color shown. Tint 5 cups icing pink using color combinations provided.

    Place cake on cake circle, then on turntable. Using spatula, ice cake with pink icing, using tip of spatula to add spatula marks to side of cake. For consistent lines, place tip of spatula at base of cake, then turn cake on table as spatula moves up towards top of cake.

    Use same technique to pipe swirl on top of cake, starting at edge of cake and working towards center.

  3. Decorate cake. In small bowl, combine sprinkles. Carefully top edge of cake with sprinkles mix.
