Swirls of Love Cut-Out Cookies

If you need a change from the traditional Valentine's Day candies, these Swirls of Love Cut-Out Cookies are perfect for you. No need to pipe icing on these cookies, simply dip them in icing and top with sparkling gold and silver sugars. Made using the LOVE cookie cutter set, these Valentine's Day cookies are a fun and easy project for any level of decorator!

  1. Bake cookies. Prepare cookie dough following recipe instructions. Using cookie cutter set, cut out cookies. Bake and cool.
  2. Make icing. Prepare two recipes of royal icing. Divide into five equal portions, about 1/2 cup each.

    Tint one portion each dark pink, light pink, blue and purple using color combinations provided. Combine Burgundy and Red-Red icing colors to get dark pink color shown. Combine Pink, Burgundy and a touch of Ivory icing colors to get light pink color shown. Combine Royal Blue and Violet icing colors to get blue color shown. Combine Violet and Rose icing colors to get purple color shown.

    Tint one portion Ivory.

    Reserve remaining portion white.

  3. Decorate cookies. Prepare decorating bags separately with dark pink, light pink, blue, purple and white icing. Pipe horizontal lines of icing on large plate.

    Dip cookies into piped icing; transfer to cooling grid. Immediately top with sparkles and sugars, following color lines.

    Let cookies dry completely, about 24 hours.
