NEEDED: See the Supply List for the Roll-Out Cookie Recipe and items you can purchase here. You will also need:
- White paper
- Waxed Paper
- Tape
- Rolling pin
ICING COLORS TO BE TINTED: Use Color Right base color to make the following ultra-concentrated color:
- Autumn Orange: 1/4 cup white icing + 1BR + 4R + 18O + 12Y
Combine 8 teaspoons ultra-concentrated Autumn Orange with 1 cup white icing. Save any remaining ultra-concentrated icing for another use.
Use Color Right base colors and QuickCount™ color formulas to tint icing in the following shade:
- Winter red: 1 cup white icing + 20R
Prepare to make candy icons. Copy patterns, one for each cookie, onto white paper. Place pattern on cake board, cover with waxed paper and tape down.
Make candy for orange cookies. Melt black candy according to package directions; place in parchment bag with tip 1 taped to outside of bag. Outline and fill in pattern. Chill until set, 10-15 minutes.
Make candy for red cookies. Melt black and red candy separately according to package directions; place in separate parchment bags with tip 1 taped to outside of bag. Outline and fill in center pattern and circle hexagon with black candy. Pipe red candy to fill in space between patterns; pipe a line of red candy along outside of black hexagon. Chill until set, about 10-15 minutes.
Bake cookies. Roll out cookie dough, cut out using smooth side of "A" cutter. Bake and cool completely.
Decorate cookies. Tint icing following color formulas above. Spatula-ice cookies. Carefully remove candies from waxed paper. Attach to iced cookies.
