  1. Bake cake. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool 2 cake layers. Level, fill and stack layers for 4 in. high cake. Crumb coat and chill, about 1 hour.
  2. Tint icing. Combine Royal Blue and Violet icing colors to get light blue color shown.

    Tint 1½ cups icing light blue using color combination provided. Reserve remaining icing white.

  3. Decorate cake. Place cake on turntable. Using white icing, ice top of cake. Using light blue icing, ice sides of cake.

    Using toothpick and ruler, evenly divide and mark 8 dots around top side of cake.

    Prepare decorating bag with tip 3 and white icing. Using fleur de lis technique, pipe fleur de lis on each mark.

    Connect bottom of each fleur de lis with a drop string.
