Winter Wonderland Snowflake Cake

Bake up a blizzard with this Winter Wonderland Snowflake Cake. Iced in light blue icing, then decorated with sprinkles and icing decorations, this winter-themed cake is perfect for a winter birthday or Hanukkah celebration. Use a cookie cutter and nonpareils to create a fun decoration on the top of the cake that gives this dessert that little touch of something extra without any hard work!

  1. Bake the cake: Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions for two cake layers. Bake and cool the layers completely.
  2. Trim each cake layer to 2½ in. tall. Assemble for 5 in. tall cake with Creamy White Decorators Icing or your choice of icing in between the layers.
  3. Tint icing: Using Royal Blue icing color, tint 4 cups of Creamy White Decorators Icing pale blue. Using the Straight Icing Spatula, ice cake, leaving horizonal spatula marks on sides of cake and swirl on top of cake.
  4. Mix sprinkles: Mix 6-cell sprinkles together. With your hand, carefully press sprinkles mix along bottom of cake. For best results, do this over a large pan or dish to catch excess sprinkles.
  5. Make snowflake: Place snowflake cutter on top of cake. Fill with thin layer of white nonpareils. Carefully remove cutter. Using tweezers, remove any nonpareils, if needed.
  6. Decorate cake: Prepare decorating bag with tip 21 and creamy white icing. Pipe small swirls around top of cake. Top each swirl with snowflake icing decoration.
