Watercolor Name Cookies

Beautiful watercolor paint effects on and white royal icing make for a cookie that is festive yet elegant. Vary the script style for a more informal presentation, or experiment with a monogram.

  1. Make cookies. Prepare cookie dough recipe according to recipe directions. Roll out cookie dough, and use 3¼ in. cutter from set to cut out each cookie. Bake and cool cookies.
  2. Roll out fondant. Use the fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll out fondant 1/16 in. thick.
  3. Paint fondant. Using the color combinations provided, mix Color Dust edible decorating powders to make pink, yellow, purple and green decorating powders. Combine White and Deep Pink decorating powders to get pink color shown. Combine White, Goldenrod and Lime Green decorating powders to get yellow color shown. Combine White, Periwinkle and Purple decorating powders to get purple color shown. Combine White and Spruce Green to get green color shown. Use a decorating brush to brush each randomly in patches across the white fondant.
  4. Cut and paste fondant. Using the same 3¼ in. cutter, cut fondant circles and attach to each cookie with piping gel.
  5. Pipe icing names. Prepare royal icing according to directions on package. Place ¼ cup in a disposable decorating bag fitted with tip 3, and pipe names on each cookie, widening the letter width on the down strokes. Let dry for 1-2 hours.
