Totally Textured Birthday Cake

  • Pink Icing Color, 1 oz.

  • Favorite Cake Mix or Recipe

  • Lemon Yellow Icing Color, 1 oz.

  • Creamy White Decorator Icing, 4 lb. Tub

  • Creamy Peach Icing Color, 1 oz.

  • Kelly Green Icing Color, 1 oz.

  • Teal Icing Color, 1 oz.

  • Rose Icing Color, 1 oz. - Pink Food Coloring

  • Violet Icing Color, 1 oz. Gel Food Coloring

  • Royal Blue Icing Color, 1 oz. - Blue Food Coloring

  • Golden Yellow Icing Color, 1 oz.

  • Orange Icing Color, 1 oz.

  1. Bake cakes. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool two cake layers. Level layers to 2½ in. high. Fill and stack layers for 5 in. high cake.

    Using white icing, ice cake smooth.

  2. Tint icing. Tint ¼ cup white icing each blue, dark teal, yellow, coral and orange using color combinations provided. Combine Royal Blue and Violet icing colors to get blue color shown. Combine Teal and Kelly Green icing colors to get dark teal color shown. Combine Golden Yellow and Lemon Yellow icing colors to get yellow color shown. Combine Pink and Orange icing colors to get coral color shown. Combine Creamy Peach and Orange icing colors to get orange color shown. Using Rose icing color, tint ¼ cup icing pink.
  3. Decorate cake. Using ruler and toothpick, mark vertical lines every ¾ in. around sides of cake. Prepare six decorating bags with couplers. Fill separately with blue, dark teal, yellow, coral, orange and pink icing.

    Alternating colors and tips, pipe dots, stars and lines randomly along vertical lines (we used tip 14 for the yellow and orange stars and tip 16 for the other stars, but you can do whatever you’d like!).
