Thumbprint Cookies

  1. Preheat the oven to 350? .
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, walnuts and salt.
  3. In a separate large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar together with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix well. Gradually add the flour mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls. Place them on a prepared baking sheet and make an indentation with your thumb in each ball.
  6. Bake 12-15 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Remove the cookies from the baking sheet onto the cooling grid.
  7. Immediately top them by filling the indent on every cookie with candy, jam, jelly or nuts.
  8. Cool completely to room temperature and enjoy.
