1. - Preheat the oven to 350? .
2. - In a medium bowl, whisk the flour, walnuts and salt.
3. - In a separate large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar together with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
4. - Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix well. Gradually add the flour mixture and mix until combined.
5. - Shape the dough into 1-inch balls. Place them on a prepared baking sheet and make an indentation with your thumb in each ball.
6. - Bake 12-15 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Remove the cookies from the baking sheet onto the cooling grid.
7. - Immediately top them by filling the indent on every cookie with candy, jam, jelly or nuts.
8. - Cool completely to room temperature and enjoy.
