Sweet Candy Egg Easter Treats

Forget all the hard-boiling and color dyes—this Easter, use candy to decorate a flock of candy eggs! Filled with tasty vanilla and chocolate fillings, these Sweet Candy Egg Easter Treats are a great addition to any Easter basket. A fun project for kids and adults, these homemade Easter candies use the Silicone Egg Treat Mold to shape these candy eggs and various shades of Candy Melts candy give you the freedom to decorate these eggs however you'd like!

  1. Tint candy. Melt Bright White candy according to package instructions. Divide evenly among eight small bowls.

    Using Violet candy color, tint three bowls candy various shades of violet, ranging from light to dark. Using Violet and Pink candy colors, tint five bowls candy various shades of purple, ranging from light to dark.

    Add 1 teaspoon EZ Thin Dipping Aid to each bowl, adding more as needed. Keep all candy warm on warming tray.

  2. Prepare silicone mold. Using decorating brushes and various shades of candy, paint cavities of mold.

    Technique 1: Using brushes, paint overlapping stripes in egg cavities. Use different shades of violet to create unique effects.

    Technique 2: Using brush or toothpick, drop several shades of violet into cavity; use brush to create marble effect.

    Technique 3: Dip brush into violet candy and flick into cavity to create paint splatter.

    Combine these techniques using various colors to create even more designs.

    Once cavities are complete, let dry, about 3 to 5 minutes.

  3. Create truffle shell. Melt White candy according to package instructions. Pour melted candy into each cavity, filling to the top. Tap gently on surface to release air bubbles. Let set for several minutes, until an outside shell starts to form. Pour excess candy out of mold onto wax paper. Using spatula, scrape away any excess candy from around top edge of mold. Reserve excess candy for later step.

    Place mold on cookie sheet. Chill until set, about 5 to 10 minutes.

  4. Fill truffles. Using Vanilla and Chocolate treat fillings, fill each cavity, leaving about 1/8 inch from top of mold.

    Remelt reserved White candy. Pour melted candy into in each cavity, filling to the top. Using spatula, spread candy evenly, if needed.

    Place mold on cookie sheet. Chill until set, about 10 to 15 minutes. Gently remove truffles from mold.

    For added texture and color, paint, drizzle or flick any remaining violet candy on finished truffle.
