Spooky Halloween Spider Cupcakes

These easy spider cupcakes will do just the trick for your Halloween party! Bake your favorite cupcake mix or recipe, then use candy eyeballs, mini chocolate sandwich cookies and ready-made frosting pouches to decorate in no time at all. These Halloween cupcakes are all treat and no tricks!

Ingredients

  • Your favorite chocolate cake mix or recipe

  • White frosting

  • Orange frosting

  • Black frosting

  • Candy eyeballs

  • Mini chocolate sandwich cookies

  • Cornstarch

  • Tools

  • Cupcake pan

  • Cupcake liners

  • Cooling rack

  • Spatula

  • Decorating brush

  1. Make chocolate cupcakes. Bake cupcakes according to box or recipe instructions. Place on a cooling rack and cool completely before decorating.
  2. Frost cupcakes. Using the round tip, pipe white frosting on top of cupcakes. Smooth with spatula.
  3. Make spider’s body. Using orange frosting, pipe a small circle, about the size of a half dollar.
  4. Make spider’s head. Pipe dot of frosting onto mini chocolate sandwich cookie, attach eyeballs. Place the cookie head so that it is leaning on the orange body.
  5. Make spider’s legs. Using black and orange frosting, pipe alternating colors of dots to create 4 legs on each side. Dip brush in cornstarch to smooth out each dot.

Notes

    • To store: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. Decorated cupcakes are best eaten within a day or two.
