Spiced-Up Gingerbread House #2

The icing techniques, fondant treatment and colorful candy decorating add trendy style and excitement to these gingerbread house designs. Choose one to decorate with the kids for a fun Christmas project, and to display on your holiday table.

  1. Make front door. Use white icing to fill in door. Cut candy in half and attach around door, alternating gum drops and multi-colored candies.
  2. Make all windows. Use white icing to outline windows, windowpanes and snowdrifts on windowsills. Cut candy and attach above front windows. Attach candy at corners of windows on sides and back, and between windows on sides.
  3. Decorate house front. Pipe cross under eaves and attach candy.
  4. Decorate roof. Divide fondant in two pieces. Roll out and cut to fit roof. Attach with icing. Use white icing to pipe line on roof peak and eaves. Attach candy.
  5. Decorate base. Use spatula and white icing to ice base. Cut candy into small pieces and attach for pathway.
