Prepare cake batter.
Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool two cake layers. Trim layers to 2½ in. for 5 in. high cake.
Ice cake.
Tint 3½ cups icing light orange using color combinations provided. Reserve remaining icing for later step. Using spatula and light orange icing, ice cake smooth.
Decorate cake.
Combine Creamy Peach and Orange icing colors to get light orange color shown. Combine Christmas Red and Orange icing colors to get pink color shown. Tint remaining icing pink using color combinations provided. Prepare decorating bag with Duo Tip Coupler, star decorating tip 22, basketweave decorating tip 48, and pink icing.
Starting at bottom and moving towards top, pipe column of shells. Rotate bag; continue piping column of shells. Repeat, rotating bag with each column, until cake is covered.
