Rice Cereal Graduation Cap Treats

Make fun graduation caps everyone will love tossing into the air (then into their mouths!) with this Rice Cereal Graduation Cap Treat project. Use the Color Right Performance Color System to make bright red caps, or caps of any color you'd like. A fun treat for elementary school graduation or middle school graduation, these little rice cereal treats are sure to get you an A+ in party entertaining!

  1. Make cereal treats. Prepare cereal treats following recipe instructions. Before adding cereal, use Red Base Color to tint marshmallow mixture to desired shade of red. Add cereal. Mix well.

    Spray muffin pan with vegetable spray. Spray hands with vegetable spray. Pack cereal treat mixture into muffin pan cavities. Let cool. Remove from pan.

  2. Melt candy. Melt Red Candy Melts candy in bowl according to package instructions. Using 3-prong fork, dip graham cracker square (2¼ in. x 2½ in.) into melted candy. Transfer to parchment paper-covered board. Continue for a total of 12 candy-coated graham crackers. Chill until set, about 10 to 15 minutes. Keep candy warm.
  3. Make tassels. Using craft knife, cut black licorice into 3 in. long ropes. Using craft knife or food-safe scissors, cut 5 to 6 strips in one end of each licorice rope ¾ in. long, forming tassel. Make 12 tassels. .
  4. Assemble treats. Prepare decorating bag with remaining melted red candy. Cut small hole in tip. Using melted candy, attach graham cracker to narrow end of cereal treat. Attach tassel to center of graham cracker using melted candy. Pipe dot on top of licorice end. Chill until set, about 5 to 10 minutes.
