Your favorite red velvet cake gets all dressed up for Valentine's Day with a Cornelli lace pattern piped on the side. Use Round Decorating Tip 2 to pipe the fine pattern lines.
Make layered cake. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool cakes. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Tint portion red. Reserve remaining white. Torte, stack and fill for a 4-layer, 4 in. high cake.
Decorate cake. Use spatula and white icing to ice cake smooth. Use plastic ruler and toothpick to mark four strips, each approximately 7/8 in. high with 1/4 in. space between each strip.
Use tip 2, cut disposable decorating bag and red icing to pipe Cornelli lace in space marked for each cake layer.
