  1. ICING COLOR TINTED:

    Use Color Right base color and QuickCount color formula to tint icing in the following shade:

    Gray (formula 532.7): 4 cups icing + 20 BK

  2. Make peony three days in advance. Make one wired peony following instructions in peony cut-outs set. Let dry at least 24 hours.
  3. Make layered cake. Bake and cool two 8 in. cake layers.
  4. Assemble and ice cake. Tint icing gray. Level, fill and stack layers on cake pedestal, for a 2-layer cake, 4 in. high.

    Use spatula and icing to ice cake smooth.

  5. Decorate cake.

    Use hydrangea cut-out from gum paste flower set to imprint design around base of cake, with points on side touching. Dust cut-out with cornstarch between imprints as needed.

    Use tip 5, a disposable decorating bag with coupler and gray icing to pipe four bead petals inside imprint. Use small end of veining tool to mark center of each petal. Pipe tip 5 dot flower center. Use tip 1 to pipe dots around imprinted flower.

    Insert peony in flower spike. Insert flower spike in cake top.
