Pastel Wishes Birthday Cake

Create a birthday cake with a colorful fondant border with this Pastel Wishes Birthday Cake.   1. Bake cake. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool two cake layers. Trim, fill and stack layers for 4 in. high cake. Spatula ice cake.
  2. Tint fondant. Divide fondant into 1 oz. portions. Tint one portion each yellow, coral, teal and purple using color combinations provided. Using Pink icing color, tint 1 oz. portion pink. Using Kelly Green icing color, tint remaining portion light green. Combine Lemon Yellow and Golden Yellow icing colors to get yellow color shown. Combine Creamy Peach and Pink icing colors to get coral color shown. Combine Teal and touch of Kelly Green icing colors to get teal color shown. Combine Violet and Pink icing colors to get purple color shown.
  3. Decorate cake. Working with one color at a time, roll fondant into 7 to 8 (1/2 in.) balls. Attach to bottom of cake, alternating colors. If icing has crusted, use remaining buttercream to attach.
