Navy Blue Tile Cake

  1. Bake cake. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool three cake layers.
  2. Make icing. Prepare two recipes buttercream icing following recipe instructions. Level, fill and stack cake layers for 6 in. high cake. Using spatula, ice cake smooth. Using tip of spatula, make swirl on top of cake.
  3. Tint fondant. Tint 12 oz. fondant dark blue using color combination provided. Combine Royal Blue and Black icing colors to get dark blue color shown. Using fondant roller with purple guide rings, roll out dark blue fondant. Using square cutter, cut out 112 squares.

    Place dark blue squares in two rows around top and bottom of cake.

  4. Make white fondant accents. Using fondant roller with pink guide rings, roll out white fondant. Using mini leaf cut-out, cut 448 leaves.

    Using damp brush, attach four leaves in “X” shape to each dark blue square.
