Milestone Birthday Cakes

Ingredients

  • Decorator Preferred White Fondant, 24 oz. Fondant Icing

  • White Decorator Icing - 4.5 lb.

  • Gold Color Mist Shimmering Food Color Spray, 1.5 oz.

  • Color Right Performance Food Coloring Set

  • Favorite cake recipe or mix

  • Tools

  • Fondant Roller, 9-Inch

  • Silver Fanci-Foil Wrap

  • Countless Celebrations Cake Pan Set, 10-Piece Letter and Number Cake Pan

  • Roll and Cut Fondant Mat

  • Decorator Preferred 9inch Angled Spatula

  • Fondant Cutter Set, 3-Piece Fondant Tools

  • 13 x 19-Inch Rectangular Cake Boards, 5-Piece

  • Recipe Right Non-Stick Cooling Grid, 16 x 10-Inch

  1. Bake cakes. Follow pan instructions to create “3” with pan inserts. Fill pan two-thirds full with batter. Bake and cool. Repeat for “0” cake.
  2. Prepare cake board. Using cakes as patterns, cut cake boards 1 in. larger than cakes; wrap in foil.
  3. Ice cakes with white creamy decorator icing.
  4. Tint rolled fondant. Follow formula below to tint fondant metallic gold.

    Use Color Right base colors and QuickCount color formula to tint fondant in the following shade:

    • Metallic Gold – 24 oz. white fondant + 7 BK, 10 O, 40 Y
  5. Cut gold fondant strips. Roll out fondant 1/8 in. thick. Cut all strips 1 in wide, and the following lengths for the “3” cake:

    • Two 3 1/4 in. long
    • Two 7 1/2 in. long
    • Two 8 1/4 in. long
    • Two 8 3/4 in. long

    For “0” cake, cut:

    • Two 9 in. long
    • Two 6 1/4 in. long
    • Eight 3 1/4 in. long
  6. Spray fondant strips. Spray fondant strips with gold Color Mist. Let dry 5 minutes.
  7. Decorate tops of cakes. Attach strips to tops of cakes, longer strips on the longer sections of the cake; trim edges where needed.
  8. Add bottom border. Roll fondant 1/8 in. thick and at least 9 in. long. Cut 1/4 in. strips. Spray with gold Color Mist spray. Let dry 5 minutes. Attach to bottom border of cake, trimming to create seams.
