This is the first course in Modern Cake Design, a three-part program created to elevate your decorating skills from fundamentals to artistry. Begin your journey into modern buttercream artistry with this full-day, hands-on course. Learn to prepare buttercream to the perfect consistency, master foundational piping movements, and create refined textures and designs that define contemporary cake styling.
Techniques Covered Include:
- Foundational piping movements and buttercream consistency
- Classic designs: lines, dots, stars, rosettes, shells, ruffles, and swags
- Modern variations: reversed shells, two-toned effects, and dimensional detailing with leaf piping and string work
Discover essential design principles—rhythm, flow, and balance—that bring your cakes to life. By the end of this course, you’ll have a solid technical foundation and a deeper appreciation for buttercream as an artistic medium — preparing you for Floral Artistry: Techniques and Applications, the next course in Modern Cake Design, where design complexity and creative expression continue to build.
Students will receive a Wilton Sweet Studio Masters Certificate of Completion.
