1. - Make cookies. Prepare and roll out cookie dough following recipe directions. Use patterns to cut cookies. Bake and cool cookies.
2. - Ice cookies. Prepare Royal icing following recipe directions. Ice cookies smooth in white icing.
3. - Combine Red-Red, Burgundy, Black and Brown for red shown. Combine Ivory, Black for cream shown. Combine Delphinium Blue, Royal Blue, Ivory and Black for blue shown. Combine Burgundy, Violet, Black for purple shown. Combine Brown and Ivory, not fully mixed for wood tone shown. Tint icing and prepare decorating bags. Divide remaining icing into five portions. Tint icing red, cream, blue and purple Tint remaining portion wood tone by tinting icing light brown, then adding small amounts of black and ivory, but do not mix in completely. Place wood tone icing in disposable decorating bag with tip 3. Prepare 4 bags with tip 1. Place remaining icing separately in each decorating bag.

   Decorate cookies. Use tip 3 and wood tone icing to pipe rods. Position tip against surface of cookie, and slowly pipe horizontal line using varying, heavy pressure. Let set.

   Use tip 1 and tinted icings to pipe strings, coils, rope, dots and curls. To pipe curls at the ends of the strings, position the tip above the surface, use heavy pressure and move tip quickly. Let set 8 hours or overnight.
