Cut fondant shapes. Using fondant roller with pink guide rings, roll out fondant separately. Using smallest cutters and cut-outs, cut various shapes from fondant.
To mix and match colors, cut shapes in half or in thirds, then re-assemble with coordinating colors. Use fondant inlay technique to make additional flower pots and cactus shapes.
Decorate cake. Arrange plants around sides of cake (use icing to attach if buttercream has crusted).
For cactus needles, prepare decorating bag with tip 1 and white icing. Pipe pull-out dots on cactus leaves.
Tint ¼ cup icing medium turquoise using color combinations provided. Prepare decorating bag with tip 3 and medium turquoise icing. Pipe inscription on cake.
