Homemade Cornbread

What goes best with a warm bowl of chili or with a side of BBQ? A deliciously moist piece of homemade cornbread, of course! With just 15 minutes prep time, it’s easy to whip up a batch of this buttery cornbread to serve along with your favorite comfort meals. Try it with butter and honey or jam, or just enjoy the slightly sweet tasty cornbread on its own.

  1. Preheat oven to 375ºF.
  2. In small bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  3. Place butter in 9 in. round pan and place in oven 4-5 minutes or until butter is melted.
  4. In large bowl, whisk together milk, sour cream and eggs. Add cornmeal mixture and whisk until just combined. Carefully pour batter into hot pan.
  5. Bake 24-28 minutes or until deeply golden at edges and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on cooling grid 5 minutes, then remove from pan. Serve warm.
