    • Baked Donuts

    • 2 cups cake flour, sifted

    • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

    • 2 teaspoons baking powder

    • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

    • 1 teaspoon salt

    • 3/4 cup buttermilk

    • 2 eggs, lightly beaten

    • 2 tablespoons butter, melted

    • Chocolate Glaze

    • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

    • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine

    • 2 tablespoons corn syrup

    • 1-2 teaspoons hot water

    • Cinnamon Sugar Topping

    • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar

    • 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon

    • 3 tablespoons butter, melted

    1. How to make donuts: Preheat the oven to 425°F. Spray the donut pan with vegetable cooking spray.
    2. In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and salt. Add buttermilk, eggs and butter. Beat until just combined.
    3. Fill each pan cavity approximately 2/3 full.
    4. Bake for 7-9 minutes, or until the tops of the donuts spring back when touched. Let cool in the pan 4-5 minutes before removing to a cooling rack.
    5. Finish donuts with chocolate or vanilla glaze, or cinnamon sugar.
    6. Vanilla Glaze: In a small bowl, stir together sugar, milk and vanilla extract until sugar is completely dissolved. Use immediately to glaze completely cooled donuts.
    7. Chocolate Glaze: In a medium bowl, melt chocolate chips, butter, and corn syrup on 50% power for 1 minute, stirring frequently until completely melted. Stir in 1 teaspoon of hot water, stirring until the glaze is thick and smooth. Add another teaspoon if the glaze is too thick. Use immediately to glaze completely cooled donuts.
    8. Cinnamon Sugar: In a shallow bowl or plate, stir together the sugar and cinnamon. Dip the warm baked donut in melted butter and roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat.

    Notes

      • Donuts are best served fresh.
      • Recipe makes 12 standard sized donuts or 24 mini donuts
      • Fill a piping bag with the donut batter to easily fill the pan cavities.
      • Place the donuts on a cooling rack over a baking sheet to glaze. Don’t forget to line the baking sheet with parchment paper or paper towels for easier clean up!
