Hearts of Blue Cake

This Hearts of Blue Cake is the perfect cure for your wedding or birthday celebration! Using the marbled fondant technique, you can create colorful fondant hearts that look like they're made of stone or granite. We used teal for this cake, but you can marbleize fondant using any color combination you like!   1. Tint fondant. Divide 4½ oz. fondant into 3 equal 1½ oz. portions. Tint one portion each light, medium and dark teal using color combinations provided. Combine Teal and Sky Blue icing colors to get light, medium and dark teal colors shown.
  2. Marbleize fondant. Roll remaining white fondant into 6 in. log. Repeat with light, medium and dark teal fondant. Using marbled fondant technique, marble fondant.

    Using fondant roller with purple guide rings, roll out marbled fondant. Using smallest heart cutter, cut out 100 to 120 hearts.

  3. Bake cake. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool two cake layers. Level, fill and stack for 4 in. high cake. Ice cake smooth.
  4. Decorate cake. Place hearts in vertical lines around cake.
