  1. Cut leaves. Tint 2 oz. gum paste green or violet. Spread a thin film of shortening on clean, smooth surface. Use 9 in. fondant roller with purple guide rings to roll out gum paste 1/16 in. thick. Use ?D? cut-out to cut 14 leaves; place under storage board flap. Repeat, cutting the following: seven ?C? cut-out leaves, six ?B? cut-out leaves and four ?A? cut-out leaves. Roll two ? in. balls of gum paste; flatten each to about 1/16 in. thick to make a 1 in. circle. Roll two ? in. balls of gum paste; flatten each to about 1/16 in. thick to make a ? in. circle. Place all leaves under storage board flap.
  2. Shape and attach two rows of largest leaves. Place one of the largest leaves (?D? size) on cornstarch-dusted thin/medium foam. Use small ball tool to soften outer edge of leaf; pinch end with fingers to form a point. Dust flower shaping bowl with cornstarch. Place one large gum paste circle in bottom of bowl; brush top with gum glue adhesive. Attach stem end of leaf to center of circle. Repeat with six additional ?D? leaves. Attach on gum paste circle, with stems meeting in the center of the circle. Brush center area of leaves with gum glue adhesive; attach remaining large gum paste circle. Repeat, attaching a second row of seven ?D? leaves, arranging leaves between leaves in the previous row. Attach one of the small gum paste circles.
  3. Shape and attach second largest leaves. Repeat Step 2 with seven ?C? size leaves. Attach on gum paste circle with gum glue adhesive, arranging leaves between leaves in the previous row. Attach last small gum paste circle in center.
  4. Shape and attach third largest leaves. Repeat Step 2 with six ?B? size leaves. Attach on small gum paste circle, positioning between the leaves of the previous row.
  5. Shape and attach smallest leaves. Attach four ?A? size leaves in center of plant. Use foam decorating wedges or crumpled paper napkin to support leaves as needed for dimension until dry.
  6. Make center of plant. Roll a 1/2 in. ball of green or violet gum paste into a log ? in. long x 3/8 in. dia. With scissors, snip four 3/8 in. deep outside leaves and two or three inside leaves. Cut bottom of log flat; attach to center of plant with gum glue adhesive. Let dry overnight.
  7. Highlight with color. Brush Color Dust edible accents on dried leaves.
