Fruity Spring Donuts

Feel a little better about eating a donut (or two!) with these Fruity Spring Donuts. Topped with various freeze-dried fruits, these homemade donuts are perfect for Easter morning or Mother's Day brunch. Mix and match your favorite fruity combinations or let the kids create their own concoctions with this simple and fun donut decorating project.

  1. Bake donuts. Prepare donut batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool donuts.
  2. Tint icing. Divide buttercream into three equal portions. Using Pink and Lemon Yellow icing colors, tint one portion each pink and yellow. Tint remaining portion violet using color combination provided. Combine Violet and touch of Rose icing colors to get violet color shown.
  3. Decorate donuts. Ice donuts with pink, yellow and violet icing.

    For Pink Donuts: Top with freeze-dried strawberries, freeze-dried bananas and pink sugar pearls.

    For Yellow Donuts: Top with freeze-dried raspberries, freeze-dried mangos, white sugar pearls and yellow jimmies.

    For Violet Donuts: Top with freeze-dried blueberries, pink jimmies and pink sugar pearls.
