Flower Inlay Cookies

When it comes to fondant, there's no easier way to make an impression than with a fun inlay project. By layering one color of fondant inside another, you can create a fun look that is sure to impress friends and family.   1. Bake cookies. Prepare cookie dough following recipe instructions. Roll out dough. Using knife and ruler, cut rectangles in three sizes:

    • 2 ½ x 1 ¾ in.
    • 1 ¾ x 3 ½ in.
    • 3 x 2 in.

    Bake and cool cookies.

  2. Tint fondant. Combine Lemon Yellow and Golden Yellow icing colors to get bright yellow color shown. Combine Kelly Green and Sky Blue icing colors to get light green color shown. Combine Rose with a touch of Sky Blue icing colors to get light and medium fuchsia color shown. Combine Rose and Violet icing colors to get medium purple color shown. Tint ½ oz. fondant bright yellow, light green, light and medium fuchsia and medium purple using color combinations provided. Using Teal icing color, tint additional ½ oz. fondant dark blue.
  3. Cut white fondant. Using fondant roller with purple guide rings, roll out white fondant. Cut to size of cookies. Transfer cut fondant to measuring mat.

    Using flower plungers, cut out 2 to 3 flowers from each white fondant rectangle; carefully remove cut-outs.

  4. Cut tinted fondant. Using fondant roller with purple guide rings, roll out tinted fondant, separately. Cut out flowers using flower plungers. Place tinted flowers inside flower space in white rectangles. Press lightly to adhere.
  5. Assemble cookies. Using decorating brush, lightly brush cookies with piping gel; attach fondant rectangles to cookies.
