Fido's Fun House Cake - Dog House Pattern

Make Shape-N-Amaze 3-D characters three days in advance. Use online directions to create dog cake toppers.

Make cake. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool cake according to pan package directions. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Use spatula and icing to lightly ice cake smooth.
Make house front. Tint 8 oz. fondant ivory. Use fondant roller with orange guide rings to roll out 1/8 in. thick.

Use knife and pattern to cut house shape from fondant. Use modeling stick to indent 1 in. rows and wood grain notches. Use piping gel to attach front of house.

For sides of house, use knife to cut two rectangles, 2 3/4 in. x 3 1/2 in. Use modeling stick to indent 1 in. rows and wood grain notches. Use piping gel to attach.

For front roof trim, cut two strips, 2 3/4in. x 5 in. Use piping gel to attach, angling at top center. For side trim of roof, cut and attach two strips, 3 in. x 1 1/4 in.
Make details. For door, tint 1 1/2 oz. of fondant black. Use fondant roller with blue guide rings to roll out 1/16 in. thick. Use knife to cut fondant to fit into door area.

For roof, tint 4 oz. of fondant red. Use fondant roller with orange guide rings to roll out 1/8 in. thick. Use knife to cut out 14 strips, each 3 1/4 in. x 1 in. Use sharp pick from set to make two indents 1 in. apart to add texture. Starting with the bottom of the roof, use piping gel to attach strips, overhanging the first by 1/2 in. and overlapping each strip by 1/4 in.

For sign, use fondant roller with orange guide rings to roll out white fondant 1/8 in. thick. Use medium round Cut-Out to cut out circle. Use black edible color marker to write name. Use piping gel to attach sign to house.
Place cake toppers around house.
