Make a little girl's birthday party unforgettable with this dazzling doll cake! It's easy to create the flowing dress shape with the Wonder Mold pan. The petal-like trim is made using Decorator Preferred Fondant and Geometric Fondant Cut-Outs.

Ingredients

  • 5-6 cups of your favorite firm-textured cake recipe or mix, such as pound cake

  • 17 oz. Decorator Preferred White Fondant, 24 oz. Fondant Icing

  • Orange Icing Color

  • Gold Color Mist Shimmering Food Color Spray, 1.5 oz.

  1. Make cake. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool cake according to pan directions. Place cake on foil-wrapped cake circle.
  2. Ice cake. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Use spatula to lightly ice cake smooth.
  3. Decorate dress. Tint fondant peach. Use fondant roller with pink guide rings to roll out peach fondant 1/16 in. thick. Use stripe pattern sheet from geometric set to emboss fondant. Use pointed oval arabesque cut-out to cut 60 shapes. Use fondant trimmer to cut seven shapes in half. Attach bottom half of shapes around bottom of dress, 3/4 in. apart. Attach whole shapes for second row, overlapping shapes in bottom row and positioning between spaces. Continue attaching whole shapes for three more rows, to top of cake. Use gold Color Mist food color spray to spray dress.
  4. Decorate bodice. Use fondant roller with purple guide rings to roll out peach fondant 1/8 in. thick. Use knife to cut a strip, 4 in. long x 2 in. wide. Use decorating brush and piping gel to attach fondant around bodice strip. Cut shoulder strap 1/4 in. x 1 1/2 in. Use decorating brush and piping gel to attach shoulder strap to doll pick. Insert doll pick in top of cake.

    For hair tie, use fondant trimmer and peach fondant to cut a strip, 1/4 in. by 1 3/4 in. Gather hair in a ponytail and tie with rubber band. Wrap fondant strip around rubber band.

  5. Make flowers. Roll out remaining peach fondant 1/16 in. thick. Use quatrefoil cut-out to cut 100 shapes. Pinch shapes together at center to make flowers. Use buttercream icing in a cut disposable decorating bag to attach flowers to waist and one to doll's shoulder.
