Cookie Awards for Dad

  1. Melt candy.

    Melt Candy Melts candy according to package instructions. Using 3-prong fork, dip cookies into melted chocolate; tap to remove excess. Transfer to waxed paper-covered board. Chill until set, about 15 to 20 minutes.

  2. Write messages.

    Let cookies come to room temperature. Using FoodWriter markers, write messages on cookies.

  3. Add sprinkles.

    Using toothpick and remaining melted candy, attach large star sprinkles to edge of some cookies. For smaller sprinkles, use decorating brush to cover sides of cookie with melted candy; roll into sprinkles.

  4. Add ribbons.

    Roll out taffy candy to rectangle, measuring 4 in. long x 1½ in. wide. Cut strip in half for two 4 in. long ribbons. Cut small “V” shaped notch in bottom of each ribbon. Cross ribbons at top and attach to cookie using remaining melted candy. Chill until set, about 10 to 15 minutes.

    Helpful Hint: Use vegetable shortening on surface if taffy starts to stick.
