Colored Homemade Waffles

  1. Preheat waffle iron according to its directions.
  2. In medium bowl stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together buttermilk, vanilla, eggs, and vegetable oil. Add buttermilk mixture to flour mixture and stir until there are no large lumps of flour.
  3. Measure out 1/2- 3/4 cup of batter (depending on the design you choose) and color it using one Wilton Color Right Base Color and place in a piping bag or squeeze bottle. Color the rest of batter using a second Color Right Base Color.
  4. Spray waffle iron with vegetable pan spray. Pipe design using batter in squeeze bottle on waffle iron then scoop batter of other color on top. Then use batter in squeeze bottle to pipe additional designs on top. Cook according to waffle iron instructions.

    Makes 3-4 large waffles.

    Helpful hint: Pipe designs backwards on bottom grid.
