Christmas Gift Tag Cookies

Ingredients

  • Cut Out Sugar Cookie Dough

  • Red Candy Melts

  • Bright White Candy Melts Candy

  • Dark Green Candy Melts Candy

  • Christmas Sprinkles Mega Bulk Set (Nonpareils and Tree Mix Used)

  • Peppermint Crunch Sprinkles

  • Tools

  • Bowl

  • Rolling Pin

  • 18-Piece Cookie Cutter Set (Stocking, Ornament, and Tree Cutters Used)

  • Cookie Sheet

  • Parchment Paper

  • 12-inch Disposable Decorating Bags

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Prepare sugar cookie dough following recipe instructions. Roll dough to 1/8 in. thickness.
  3. Using stocking, ornament, and tree cookie cutters, cut out cookies, and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  4. Poke a hole towards teh top of each shape using the #4 round tip.
  5. Bake in the pre-heated oven for 6-8 minutes, or until the bottom edge just starts to brown.
  6. Remove cookies to a cooling rack and cool completely.
  7. After cookies have cooled completely, melt red, bright white, and dark green candy melts according to the package instructions, one color at a time.
  8. Dip bottom half of the cookies into melted candy, then set on a piece of parchment paper to dry, adding sprinkles on top of the candy melts while still wet. Example color and sprinkle combinations:
    • a. Stocking cookies: red candy melts and tree mix sprinkles
    • b. Ornament cookies: bright white candy melts and tree mix sprinkles
    • c. Tree Cookies: dark green candy melts and holidat nonpareils sprinkles
  9. Using leftover melted red and/or green candy melts, place into a decorating bag fitted with a #2 round tip. Pipe names onto the cookies (you can also use Royal Icing for this step). Chill until set, about 5 minutes.
  10. After the candy melts have set completely, thread a piece of twine into the hole of each cookie. TIP If needed, use a toothpick to help push the twine through the hole.
