Christmas Cake Balls

Take a break from all your cookie baking and whip up a batch of these cute, bite sized Christmas Cake Balls. They’re easy to make with our step by step guide and can be a fun baking adventure the whole family can help with.

Ingredients

  • 1 box cake mix of your choice (vanilla, chocolate, etc.)

  • 1 box instant pudding and pie filling mix

  • 4 eggs

  • 1 cup water

  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

  • 1/2 cup buttercream frosting

  • 1 bag of Bright White Candy Melts Candy

  • Assorted holiday sprinkles and sugars

  • 9 x 13 inch cake pan

  • Large bowl

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray sheet cake pan with nonstick vegetable pan spray.
  2. Make the cake.In a large bowl, combine cake mix, pudding mix, eggs, water and oil.

    Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer for 2 minutes then pour the mixture into the prepared pan.

  3. Bake the cake. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake, comes out clean.
  4. Cool it for 10 minutes, then remove cake from the pan and place it on the cooling grid to cool completely to room temperature.
  5. When completely cooled, divide the cake in half and freeze one half for future use.
  6. Form the cake balls.Using your hands, crumble the cake until there are no large chunks. Add icing, mixing with fingers until it’s well combined.

    Form the mixture into 2 tablespoons-sized cake balls (each about 1 1/2 inch diameter) and chill them until they’re set. Should take about 2 hours.

  7. Create & coat the cake balls. While the cake balls are setting, melt Bright White Candy Melts Candy according to the package instructions.
  8. Using the fork from the dipping tool set, dip a cake ball into melted candy coating. Tap lightly to remove excess, then place it on the wax paper or parchment paper-covered cake board.
  9. Immediately top the dipped cake ball with desired sprinkles or sugars. Repeat for all cake balls.
  10. Chill cake balls until they’re set, should take about 10 to 15 minutes.

Notes

    • For more uniform looking cake balls.
    • Use a cookie scooper and roll the mixture to form the cake balls. Use a tall and deep bowl or cup, like the Ceramic Candy Melting Bowls, to dip your cake pops in Candy Melts. This way the balls can be completely submerged.
