Bright and Cheery Gingerbread House

The name says it all. Making this gingerbread house keeps everyone happy and in the Christmas spirit!

  1. Prepare the gingerbread house panels. Inspect panels; use a knife to trim edges so all are even and flat.
  2. Heat cookie icing according to the package’s directions. Divide one bottle of icing and tint in the following colors: Christmas Red, Red-Red, Moss Green, Kelly Green with Royal to get Dark Blue/Green color, Pink, and Teal.
  3. Windows and door. Place all house panels on cooling grid. Use one bottle white icing: leave in the bottle or place in a decorating bag. Outline windows on side panels and flood remaining side panels. Outline three windows on back panel and flood. Outline door on front panel and flood in bottom half of front panel.
  4. Decorate panels. Cut 1/8 in. off tip of bags of all colors. Pipe a stripe of dark blue/green in center of top half of front panel. Let sit for 30 seconds. Pipe light teal on either side, let sit for 30 seconds. Pipe red on either side, let sit for 30 seconds. Pipe dark blue/green, let sit. Pipe pink, let sit. Pipe dark blue/green, let sit. Pipe red, let sit.

    Outline door and windows with teal pipe a red doorknob.

    Use pink icing to pipe horizontal stipe at bottom edge of vertical stripes.

    Use tinted icings to pipe stripes alternating with white over roof panels; complete one panel at a time. Immediately use a toothpick to drag the colors together, keep all the dragging the same direction.

  5. Pipe trees. Pipe scalloped triangles alternating blue/green and moss green letting each color sit for 30 seconds before adding next color.

    Let house panels dry for 2 to 4 hours.

  6. Assemble house. Use white icing included in kit following gingerbread house directions. Pipe zigzags over seams.

    Ice board with remaining gingerbread icing.
