Autumn Leaf Cookies

These Autumn Leaf Cookies feature the beautiful and bold colors of fall. Decorated using yellow, blue, red and purple shades of royal icing, these cookies are great for Thanksgiving or fall weddings and celebrations. Use our tasty roll-out cookie recipe as your base, then cut out maple and oak leaf shapes and arrange them on a platter for a lovely dessert display.

  1. Bake Cookies. Prepare cookie dough following recipe instructions. Using maple and large oak leaf cutters, cut out cookies. Bake and cool.
  2. Tint Icing . Combine Violet and a touch of Burgundy icing colors to get purple color shown.

    Prepare royal icing following recipe instructions.

    Using Golden Yellow, Red-Red and Royal Blue icing colors, tint ½ cup white icing each yellow, red and blue.

    Tint ½ cup white icing purple using color combination provided.

    Reserve remaining icing white.

  3. Decorate cookies. Thin all icing to count 20 (flood consistency). Prepare decorating bags, separately, with thinned icing.

    Cut ¼ in. off tip of each bag. Using yellow, red, blue and purple icing, ice cookies. Immediately add veins using white icing.

    Let cookies dry completely overnight, or 8 to 10 hours.
