Air Fryer Pastelillos de Guayaba (Puerto Rican Guava Turnovers)

Pastelillos de Guayaba are a popular Puerto Rican puff pastry turnover filled with guava paste, and sometimes, cream cheese in addition to the guava. They are wonderful served with café con leche for a breakfast treat. Typically baked in the oven, this version is prepared in the air fryer.

Ingredients

  • Flour, for dusting
  • 1 (17.3-ounce) package prepared puff pastry sheets (2 sheets), thawed in the refrigerator
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 8 ounces guava paste, sliced into 1/2-inch thick strips, then into 2-inch sections
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
