Decorative Pumpkin Pie

Take your humble pumpkin pie up a notch by piping a beautiful floral design on your dessert using cream cheese frosting. A simple and fun way to add a personalized touch to a homemade (or store-bought!) pie, this Decorative Pumpkin Pie project is great for a hostess gift, as well. Don't trust your flower piping skills?   1. Prepare crust. Prepare two pie crust recipes following recipe instructions. Lay one crust in pie pan.

    Cut second crust into strips, measuring 3/8 in. wide.

    Using strips, make braid, attaching strips to end as needed with damp brush. Continue until braid is about 30 in. long. Attach to edge of crust using damp brush, trimming excess as needed.

  2. Prepare pie filling. Prepare pie filling following recipe instructions. Fill crust. Bake and cool pie.
  3. Prepare icing. Prepare cream cheese frosting following recipe instructions.
  4. Decorate pie. Prepare decorating bag with tip 1 and cream cheese frosting. Pipe flowers, stems and leaves on cooled pie.
