Roll-Out Butter Cookies
Enjoy the sweet, soft goodness of our Roll-Out Butter Cookie Recipe. Similar to Sugar Cookies, Butter Cookie dough can be used to make shaped cookies. Once these cookies are baked, they become blank canvases just waiting for you and your family to decorate with icings and sprinkles!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter, softened

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

  • 1/4 teaspoon Almond Extract

  • Tools

  • Large bowl

  • Medium bowl

  • Electric mixer

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. In large bowl, beat butter with electric mixer until light. Beat in egg and extracts. Keep in mind, mixture will be lumpy.
  3. In a medium bowl, stir together sugar, flour, baking powder and salt.
  4. Add sugar-flour mixture into butter-egg mixture and mix on low until dough comes together.
  5. On a floured surface, roll into circle approximately 12 in. in diameter and 1/8 in. thick.
  6. Dip cookie cutter in flour and press into dough. Continue dipping cookie cutter in flour before each use.
  7. Bake cookies on ungreased cookie sheet 6-7 minutes or until cookies are lightly browned.

Notes

  • There is no need to chill this dough. Once the dough comes together, you can get ready to rolling, cutting and baking!
