Mellow Yellow All-Occasion Cake

Make someone's day just a little bit brighter with this Mellow Yellow All-Occasion Cake. Bake cake. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool two cake layers. Fill and stack for 4 in. high cake.
Tint icing. Tint 3 cups icing light-light yellow using color combinations provided. Combine Lemon Yellow and Golden Yellow icing colors to get light-light yellow, light yellow, medium yellow, dark yellow and dark-dark yellow colors shown. Roughly ice cake smooth, using spatula to make swirl on top of cake.
Additionally tint ½ cup icing each light yellow, medium yellow, dark yellow and dark-dark yellow using color combinations provided.
Pipe flowers. Prepare decorating bags separately with tips 1B, 2C, 109, 1G, 2F and 255. Fill randomly with various shades of yellow icing, using one shade in some bags and two shades in others. Pipe various flowers on waxed paper-covered board. Make 8 to 15 of each flower. Freeze until set.
Decorate cake. Arrange flowers around base of cake.
