Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, softened

  • 2/3 cups firmly packed dark brown sugar

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 cups peeled, mashed ripe bananas (about 3-4)

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup chocolate chunks or chocolate chips, divided

  1. Preheat oven to 325ºF. Prepare a 9 x 5-inch pan with vegetable pan spray.
  2. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla; mix well. Add dry ingredients to butter mixture; mix just until blended. Stir in 2/3 cup chocolate chips or chunks.
  4. Pour batter into prepared pan and sprinkle with remaining chocolate.
  5. Bake 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on cooling rack 15 minutes; remove from pan and cool completely.
