2-Tone Fondant Circle Cake

Give your cake texture and style with this 2-Tone Fondant Circle Cake. Simply tint fondant two shades of teal, then cut and form 2-tone circles to add a decorative element to your treat. This cake is easy to personalize and is a great project for beginning fondant decorators.   1. Bake cake. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool two cake layers. Level, fill and stack for 4 in. high cake. Ice cake smooth.
  2. Tint fondant. Tint 1½ oz. fondant dark teal using color combinations provided. Combine Teal, Kelly Green, Sky Blue and touch of Black icing colors to get dark teal color shown. Mix ½ oz. dark teal fondant with ½ oz. white fondant to make medium teal.
  3. Cut circles. Using fondant roller with pink guide rings, roll out dark teal fondant. Using smallest round cut-out, cut approximately 80 circles. Repeat with medium teal fondant. Using craft knife, cut all circles in half.
  4. Decorate cake. Form new circles by matching one half dark teal with one half medium teal. Attach 2-tone circle to cake. Continue making and attaching circles, approximately 1/16 in. to 1/8 in. apart and rotating each fondant circle 180 degrees from previous circle. Repeat to cover sides of cake.
