10 Ways to Decorate Cupcakes with Tip 74

Just because decorating tip 74 is designed for leaves doesn't mean you can't use it for other designs! Great for piping shells, roses, rosettes, ruffles and more, this decorating tip can add amazing texture and style to your cake or cupcakes.

Ingredients

  • Kelly Green Icing Color, 1 oz.

  • Black Icing Color, 1 oz.

  • Royal Blue Icing Color, 1 oz. - Blue Food Coloring

  • Red-Red Icing Color, 1 oz.

  • White Decorator Icing - 4.5 lb.

  • Favorite cupcake mix or recipe

  • Tools

  • White Cupcake Liners, 75-Count

  • 12 Cup Muffin Pan

  • 12-Inch Disposable Decorating Bags, 12-Count

  • 3 Leaf Decorating Tip 74

  • 10 x 16 Chrome-Plated Cooling Rack

  1. Bake cupcakes. Prepare cupcake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool cupcakes in white cupcake liners.
  2. Tint icing. Tint 1 cup icing each red, green and blue following color combinations provided.

    *Combine Red-Red and Black icing colors to get red color shown. Combine Kelly Green and Royal Blue icing colors to get green color shown. Combine Royal Blue and Black icing colors to get blue color shown.

  3. Decorate cupcakes. Prepare three decorating bags with tip 74. Fill separately with red, green and blue icing.
    • Red and Blue Striped Cupcake: Using blue icing, pipe four zig-zag lines, starting at edge and moving towards center. Repeat with red icing.
    • Circles of Leaves Cupcake: Using red icing, hold bag so wide end of tip faces up. Use pull-out star technique to pipe row of leaves around edge of cupcake. Using blue icing, hold bag so wide end of tip faces down. Use same technique to pipe row of leaves on inside of red line. Using green icing, hold bag so wide end of tip faces up. Use same technique to pipe row of leaves on inside of blue line.
    • Running Shells Cupcake: Using blue icing, pipe row of shells in center of cupcake. Turn cupcake 180°. Repeat with green icing. Turn 180° again. Repeat with red icing.
    • Tri-Color Daisy Cupcake: Using red icing, hold bag so wide end of tip faces left. Pipe flower using daisy technique. Using blue icing, pipe circle of shells in center of cupcake. Using green icing, pipe rosette in center.
    • Green and Red Ruffle Cupcake: Using green icing, hold bag so wide end of tip faces up. Pipe ruffle around edge of cupcake. Using red icing, hold bag so wide end of tip faces down. Pipe ruffle in center.
    • Rosette on the Water Cupcake: Using blue icing, hold bag so wide end of tip faces up. Pipe ruffle around edge of cupcake. Using green icing, use pull-out star technique to pipe leaves in center. Using red icing, pipe rosette in center.
    • Red Rose Cupcake: Using red icing, pipe rose to cover cupcake.
    • Blue Rosette Cupcake: Using blue icing, pipe rosette to cover cupcake.
    • Ruby Rosettes Cupcake: Using red icing, pipe small rosettes around edge of cupcake. Repeat in center. Using green icing and pull-out star technique, pipe leaves around rosettes.
    • Green and Blue Rope Cupcake: Using green icing, pipe buttercream rope around edge of cupcake. Using blue icing, repeat in center.
