  1. Preheat oven to 375ºF.
  2. In medium bowl, sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. In large bowl, with electric mixer on medium speed, beat shortening, butter and 1-1/2 cups sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, mix well. Add flour mixture; mix until combined.
  3. Roll dough into 1 in. balls. In small bowl, combine remaining 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon. Roll cookie dough balls in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie pan. Bake 8-10 minutes or until lightly browned, but still soft. Remove from pan to cooling grid; cool completely.
