Pink and Purple Ribbon Rose Cupcakes

Making decorative fondant flowers doesn't have to be complicated. The simple ribbon rose technique is great for creating small and medium-sized fondant roses for your cakes and cupcakes. Simply cut fondant strips, then fold and roll them to make sweet edible flowers in no time!   1. Bake cupcakes. Prepare cake batter following recipe instructions. Bake and cool cupcakes in pink cupcake liners.
  2. Tint fondant and icing. Prepare icing following recipe instructions. Divide into two equal portions. Tint one portion medium purple and one portion light purple using color combinations provided. Combine Rose and Violet icing colors to get medium purple color shown. Combine Rose with touch of Violet icing colors to get light purple color shown.

    Divide fondant into two equal 12 oz. portions. Tint one portion medium purple and one portion light purple using color combinations provided.

  3. Ice cupcakes. Using spatula, ice half cupcakes medium purple, and other half light purple.
  4. Make fondant roses. Using ribbon rose technique, make 36 medium ribbon roses using medium purple fondant. Repeat to make 36 medium ribbon roses using light purple fondant.
  5. Decorate cupcakes. Arrange groups of three purple roses on pink cupcakes and groups of three pink roses on purple cupcakes.
