Ingredients 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cloves 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 1/4 cups firmly packed dark brown sugar 1 tablespoon orange zest 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened 1 egg 1/2 teaspoon orange extract Wilton Sparkling Sugar Tools Scoop-it Measuring Cups Scoop-it Measuring Spoons medium bowl large bowl rubber or silicone spatula Rolling Pin Cookie Cutters Cookie Sheet Instructions Click to mark complete - Preheat oven to 350°F. - In medium bowl, combine flour, cloves, baking soda and salt. - In large bowl, beat brown sugar and orange zest on medium speed for 1 minute. Add butter and beat on low speed until light and fluffy. Add egg and orange extract; beat until well combined. Add flour mixture 1 cup at a time, scraping bottom and sides of bowl and beating well after each addition. Divide dough into 2 disks. Do not chill. - On floured surface, roll each disc into a circle approximately 1/8 in. thick. Cut using 3 in. cookie cutter and place on cookie pan. Sprinkle with Sparkling Sugar. Reroll dough as necessary. - Bake 9-11 minutes or until edges of cookies are lightly darkened and firm to the touch. Cool cookies on pan on cooling grid 3 minutes. Remove from pan; cool completely on grid.
