- Melt each color of Candy Melts separately according to package instructions.
- Dip treats in base color. If creating an ombre effect, be sure to use either the darkest or lightest shade as your base color. Tap treat lightly to remove excess candy and chill on parchment-covered board until set, approximately 10 minutes.
- Dip treat into second color of melted Candy Melts, covering about 2/3 of the base color. Be sure to dip straight down to create an even line between colors. Tap treat lightly to remove excess candy and chill on parchment-covered board until set, approximately 10 minutes.
- Dip treat into third color, covering about 1/3 of the area already colored. Tap treat lightly to remove excess candy and chill on parchment-covered board until set, approximately 10 minutes.
Notes
-
Be sure that a color has firmed up completely before dipping another layer of color. When dipping an additional layer of color, do not hold treat in melted candy for too long or the previous layer will begin to melt and blend in with other color. Keep dips quick. The longer a chilled treat is being dipped in warmed candy, the thicker the candy coating will be. To dip a cupcake, chill the buttercream topped cupcake first and thin down melted Candy Melts with 1 teaspoon of solid white vegetable shortening before dipping. This will prevent the buttercream from detaching as it is dipped in the candy. Be sure to chill dipped cupcake before adding another layer of color.
