In this immersive workshop, students will master the essential techniques for baking a perfect cake. Over three days, participants will bake five unique cakes, along with complementary fillings and icings. Students will:
- Learn the importance of accurate ingredient scaling through precise measuring and weighing techniques.
- Master key baking methods, including proper mixing, creaming, and folding for optimal cake texture and structure.
- Gain expertise in preparing cake pans, determining ideal bake times, and managing the cooling process.
- Develop advanced skills in layering, torting, filling, and icing cakes to achieve a professional finish.
- Bake five cakes from scratch: Carrot, Chiffon, Pound, Chocolate, and White.
- Create delectable fillings such as Bavarian cream, lemon curd, and chocolate mousse.
- Craft a variety of icings, including Cream Cheese, French Buttercream, Swiss Meringue, chocolate, and poured ganache.
This workshop will provide students with the knowledge and techniques to elevate their baking to a professional level. This class is approved by the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE).
