  1. Make nine rose bases five days in advance. Prepare gum glue adhesive following recipe directions. For base, use a ball of gum paste, 1/4 in., to form into teardrop shape, 1 1/4 in. tall. Dip end of toothpick into gum glue adhesive and insert into bottom of rose base, approximately 1 in. Insert toothpick into craft block. Let dry 48 hours.
  2. Make roses three days in advance. Tint three 3 oz. portions of gum paste light rose petal pink, dark rose petal pink and yellow. Use the instructions in the gum paste flower cutter set to make three roses in each color with three layers of petals. When you finish adding the third layer of petals, slide foil wrapper up the toothpick and shape foil around bottom of rose to support petals as they dry. Use a piece of tape to secure foil wrapper around the toothpick. Let roses dry 24 to 48 hours.
  3. Make cupcakes. Prepare batter following recipe directions. Bake and cool cupcakes.
  4. Decorate cupcakes. Use brush to dust white Pearl Dust on edges of all roses. Prepare buttercream icing following recipe directions. Use spatula to ice top of cupcakes smooth. Position roses on cupcakes. Use scissors to trim toothpicks to adjust heights if necessary.
